As parents we play a crucial role in shaping the future for the planet, being a parent in our modern society is challenging.

The following is a list of resources to assist parents in minimising their impact as well as helping to embed environmental values which will help our children and future generation take better responsibility for the planet.

General support

Join Eco Parenting Colchester a Facebook group for discussion and sharing of tips and for finding out what’s going on in and around Colchester for families wanting to lower their carbon footprint.

Beautiful Bonds offers support with the postnatal period, preparing you through pregnancy and supporting you in the fourth trimester with baby wearing, feeding, love and nurture. Located in Colchester CO3.

 

Breastfeeding

La Leche League Colchester is a friendly group that meets twice a month. All mothers who are breastfeeding, or have breastfed, and are here to offer support, encouragement and information to other pregnant or breastfeeding women.

 

Cloth nappies

Colchester Cloth is an advice and information service around reusable cloth nappies. They provide online support and have regular monthly “Nappy Natters” where you can come and see samples and demonstrations of modern cloth nappies.

East Essex Cloth Nappy Library CIC With branches in Maldon, Tiptree, Burnham, South Woodham, Colchester and Mersea, we offer advice and support for all interested in reusable nappies. We also provide trial kits and newborn kits.

​Encourage a love for nature with The Essex Wildlife Trust, whether it be forest school, birthday parties, adult learning or family days out.

Get involved with Essex Wildlife Trust 30 days Wild challenge, an annual event that encourages you to do something ‘wild’ every day for the month of June, whether it be tree gazing or building a log pile for insects.
